Madison, WI – The Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIA) is pleased to announce that Senator Romaine Quinn (R – Birchwood) has been named the Senate recipient of PIA’s 2025 Legislative Excellence Award, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to Wisconsin’s independent insurance agents and the consumers they serve.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Insurance, Housing, Rural Issues and Forestry, Senator Quinn has played a central role in advancing and vetting legislation important to PIA members. Throughout the session, he has demonstrated strong leadership, ensuring thoughtful consideration and forward movement of policy addressing critical issues in the insurance industry.

This includes action on Assignment of Benefits (AOB) reform with the passage of Senate Bill 531. This legislation, now in the hands of Governor Evers, puts reasonable regulations on AOB contracts that will protect consumers from predatory practices.

In addition to his work as Committee Chair, Sen. Quinn co-sponsored and supported many other bills supported by PIA and other small-business groups.

“Senator Quinn is a strong advocate for independent agents and small business owners,” said PIA Executive Director Pete Hanson. “We are grateful for his continued leadership as committee chair and for advancing policy that protects consumers and supports a strong insurance marketplace in Wisconsin.”

PIA’s Legislative Excellence Award is presented annually to one member of both the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly who demonstrate support for PIA priority legislation, independent insurance agents, and a healthy insurance system.
