Get to Know PIA Director: Chanee Boehnen

Chanee Boehnen has been in the insurance industry for 17 years and now owns the independent agency her and her father started from scratch: Lundell Insurance in Dodgeville. Chanee has been a member of PIA since 2015, serves as Chair of the Member Value Committee, is a member of the PIA Legislative Committee, and was elected to the PIA Board of Directors in 2025.

Getting to Know Chanee

How did you get into the insurance industry?

My Dad was in insurance and when he came to me and asked if I wanted to open an insurance office with him is seem like a no brainer.

What is your favorite part of working in insurance?

I love being around other people and helping them navigate their needs.

Did you ever play any sports?

I was in gymnastics and softball ever since I was three years old.  Loved both sports, and now I coach my daughters in softball.

Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner?

Breakfast! Though I hardly ever eat it. If I had my way, I would go to Brunch every weekend!

Do you have any pets?

I have two frenchies: Rosie and Lola. They are my babies and I spoil them.  When I’m home, they follow me all around the house.  I also bring them to work everyday and customers love them.  We even have several customers that bring them treats when they come in.

What is your favorite holiday? 

Christmas! No joke I have 17 Christmas trees I put up around the house, and they go up earlier and earlier every year.  My husband hates getting them out and putting them away every year, LOL!

Where did you grow up? What's the best part about it?

I grew up in Dodgeville.  My favorite part is, that it’s a small town.  You could ride your bike of walk to your friend’s house, meet at the pool or park.  People knew who you were and looked out for each other.  We also had Governor Dodge State Park, where I worked during the summers.  It’s beautiful, we would fish and swim in the lake, go camping and hiking.  I love being outdoors.

What has been your favorite place you’ve traveled to and why? 

Italy. It's so beautiful, and food is out of this world.  I love food and cooking, everything there is so simple but amazing. They work to live and everything is more relaxed, they enjoy life on a different level then we do.
